This new four tracker from the central Figure artist finds him in deep exploratory mode, working subtle, hypnotic hooks with a fresh and robust sound palette. »District« introduces the EP, with its bold bass rumble and minimalist attitude. The bass end stomps while the silky hats gently caress. Hints of melody wash above it all yet don’t overpower the submerged funk. The haunting electrostatic of »Rays« sets the geiger-counter off in a ultra reduced tool for bassline-loving DJs. A rolling synth attack follows with »Mutation«, inspired and controlled peak energy for the deeper techno crew. Markus holds everything at bay, allowing each of the handful of elements to eventually have their moment in the spotlight. Finally the hypnosis of »Decontamination« winds up this excellent EP with its technoid soul and as always Suckuts killer bass end.
